Who could forget Gage Creed? The adorable little tike from Pet Sematary who’s ran over by a semi-truck and comes back as a scalpel wielding zombie brat. The actor who played him, Miko Hughes, was born in February 1986 in California. His first ever acting gig was in a PSA at just 22 months old and Pet Sematary became his first on screen credited role. Boy, what a great way to kick of your career! The following year, Miko had another break through role as the “boys have a penis, girls have a vagina” kid in Kindergarten Cop (1990) with Arnold Schwarzenegger.
Because of those two roles, Hughes became an in demand child actor and spent the next few years making guest spots on huge television shows like “Doogie Howser, M.D.,” “Beverly Hills 90210,” “Hangin’ with Mr. Cooper,” and “Melrose Place,” before he returned to horror in 1994 in Natural Selection. In the same year he played the lead role of Dylan Porter in Wes Craven’s New Nightmare; and in 1995 he finished his five year stint on “Full House” and began a year long role on “The Parent Hood” from 1996 to 1997. Miko also had a small role in Spawn (1997) and another out of genre role was with Bruce Willis in Mercury Rising (1998).
So, where is Miko Hughes now?
He stuck mainly with television at the start of the new millennium with a recurring role on “Roswell” in 2000 and “Boston Public” in 2003. He continued to act throughout the years, but his career opportunities have been a little hit and miss. He had a cameo in Tropic Thunder (2008) with Ben Stiller and played the lead role in Remains (2011). He became a writer and director in 2013 when he created the “See” segment in Chilling Visions: 5 Senses of Fear. Miko also has another horror film, William Froste, aiming for a 2016 release.
He is also a beekeeper and singer and makes frequent horror film convention appearances.
