  • 2014 – H.R. Giger, the infamous dark artist who created the xenomorph in “Alien” and his designs were used in every subsequent “Alien” film. He also designed the creature in “Species” and “Species 2.” He passed away at the age of 74 from complications from a fall.
  • 2001 – Richard Davidson who did make-up and special effects work on the films “The Thing” (1982), “Planet of the Apes” (2001), “Jurassic Park” and “Batman Returns,” passed away at the age of 40.
  • 1995 – Arthur Lubin who directed the 1943 version of “The Phantom of the Opera,” “Hold That Ghost” and “Black Friday,” passed away at the age of 96.
  • 1971 – The one and only Mighty Tor Johnson, passed away at the age of 67.
  • 1957 – Erich von Stroheim who appeared in the films “The Lady & the Monster,” “The Mask of Dijon” and “Alraune,” passed away at the age of 72.
