Aussie Thrashers KING PARROT stream their new album “Dead Set”

Australia’s thrash/grindcore band King Parrot are streaming their upcoming new album entitled Dead Set in its entirety over at Metal Hammer UK in advance of the album’s debut on May 19th in North America. I was completely surprised by the sound of this band mainly because of their name. Don’t be fooled by the name of these blokes – their album is totally heavy and well worth a listen. The Aussie thrash metal/grindcore/punk mad men, KING PARROT, have teamed up with Metal Hammer UK to launch an advance stream of the band’s forthcoming album,“Dead Set”. Set to be released on May 15th in Europe (Agonia Records), May 19th in North America (Housecore Records) and May 15th in Australia (Rocket/EVP),“Dead Set” is available for listening in full at:

The follow-up to 2013’s “Bite Your Head Off” effort, “Dead Set” was produced by Phil Anselmo (Pantera, Down) in Nodferatu’s Lair Studio (Down, Eyehategod,Superjoint Ritual). Anselmo also stars in the video for “Like A Rat”, the first track released from the new album, and firmly gives them the seal of approval, saying:

“King Parrot are a fine body of fellows, and it is our absolute pleasure to be working with these assaulting-yet-charming devils. Their best years are ahead of them!”

Of the new album, vocalist, Matt Young, comments:

“King Parrot are proud to release our new album ‘Dead Set’ via Agonia records this May. It’s been a long process but we happy to say that we are ready to move ahead and get this sucker out. We wanted to work together with the best people in the business to make this a great record and when Phil (Anselmo) said he wanted to be involved it was a no-brainer”.

“The great thing about this record is that it actually sounds like a real band and is a reflection of where we are at right now. In my eyes, that is everything a record should be. We are really happy with the final result and can’t wait to show everyone what we have in store”.

Emerging from Australian metal scene in the last few years, KING PARROT have quickly pillaged their way to international recognition since the release of their debut album. Drawing influence from the thrash, grind, hardcore and punk scenes of the 80’s and 90’s, the band have created a fresh sound that perfectly encapsulates their aggression, intensity and dark sense of humour seamlessly. Having been nominated for a Metal Hammer (UK) Golden God Award, 2015 is already shaping up to be an exciting year for KING PARROT.

Following a successful European tour alongside Weedeater in March, the band are planning on returning to the continent later this year.
