Well, well, well… It seems another cast member from the original George A. Romero zombie trilogy has joined an unofficial entry in the franchise titled Night of the Living Dead: Genesis. It was only two months ago that the original Barbra herself, Judith O’Dea, reprised her role as the iconic character on set of the new movie from Matt Cloude. Yesterday it was announced that Jim Krut would also be joining the cast of Genesis as Lieutenant Briggs.
Jim Krut is perhaps best known to horror fans for playing the featured role of Helicopter Zombie in 1978’s Dawn of the Dead. Since the noteworthy appearance, he’s showed up in a few other horror titles including Zombthology, Deadlands 2, Dead iSland and Flesh of the Living. He even started producing films in the early 2010s and while he didn’t fill that role in Night of the Living Dead: Genesis, Cloude has recognized his brilliance and thanks him for his incredible support.
With the additions of Judith O’Dea, Jim Krut and other Dawn of the Dead zombies like David Crawford and Mike Christopher, Night of the Living Dead: Genesis is turning out to be one of the most hotly anticipated unofficial remakes in the series.
Other cast members appearing in Genesis include Sarah Snyder, Mike Lord Sr., David S. Witt (“Bath Salts”), Brenleigh Rigsbee, Cyrus Samson (Deer Crossing), Christy Johnson (Mortuary), Alex Elliot, David Joy, John Migliore (Massacre at Femur Creek) and Addy Miller (“The Walking Dead”). Written and directed by Matt Cloude with William G. Smith, this title is hoping to devour its viewers in late 2015/early 2016.
