We’re all terribly excited about the upcoming Starz Original Series Ash vs. Evil Dead from creators of the original film, Sam Raimi and Rob Tapert. Today they unleashed a modest promo teaser to wet our appetite for the show. Unfortunately, there is no actual footage involved, just an animated sequence, but hey it’s something. The 10-episode half-hour series is a sequel to the cult horror film franchise The Evil Dead. The series is set to film on location in New Zealand this spring and premiere in late 2015.
Raimi will direct the first episode of Ash vs Evil Dead, which he wrote with Ivan Raimi, Craig DiGregorio and Tom Spezialy. Raimi, Tapert and Campbell executive produce along with Craig DiGregorio who will serve as showrunner. Ivan Raimi will co-executive produce and Aaron Lam will serve as producer.
The cast will include Bruce Campbell, Lucy Lawless, Ray Santiago, Dana DeLorenzo and Jill Marie Jones.
Campbell will be reprising his role as Ash, the stock boy, aging lothario, and chainsaw-handed monster hunter who has spent the last 30 years avoiding responsibility, maturity, and the terrors of the Evil Dead. When a Deadite plague threatens to destroy all of mankind, Ash is finally forced to face his demons – personal and literal. Destiny, it turns out, has no plans to release the unlikely hero from its “Evil” grip.
