  • 2010 – John Clifford, who wrote the screenplay for the original “Carnival of Souls,” passed away at the age of 91.
  • 2004 – Mercedes McCambridge, who provided the voice of the demon “Pazuzu” in the film “The Exorcist.,” passed away at the age of 87.
  • 2001 – Peggy Converse, who co-starred in the films “The Thing That Couldn’t Die” and “The Brute Man,” passed away at the age of 95
  • 1996 – Lyle Talbot, who appeared in the 1949 serial “Batman and Robin,” where he played “Commissioner Gordon,” in the 1950 serial “Atom Man vs. Superman” where he played “Luthor, the Atom Man,” and the Ed Wood classics, “Glen or Glenda” and “Plan Nine From Outer Space,” passed away at the age of 94.
  • 1992 – Stage and screen actress Sandy Dennis, passed away at the age of 54. She co-starred in the films “God Told Me To,” “976-Evil” and the TV movie “Something Evil” alongside Darren McGavin.”
  • 1987 – Perennial cowboy star Randolph Scott, passed away at the age of 89. He took time out from his busy western film schedule to appear in “Island of Lost Souls” and “Murders in the Zoo.”
  • 1982 – Author Philip K. Dick, whose novels include “Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?” (on which the film “Blade Runner” was based), “Solar Lottery” and “The Man in the High Castle,” passed away at the age of 53. Many of his short stories were also made into films, such as “Total Recall,” “Screamers” and “Minority Report.”
