UPDATE: Season Five is going forward as “American Horror Story: Hotel!”
Pop singer Lady Gaga is the first lead actress attached to the fifth season of hit FX series, “American Horror Story.” As fans of the series are mourning the loss of Meep (Ben Woolf) who died tragically last week, this may or may not be a source of good news. While you can’t deny that Lady Gaga has an amazing set of pipes when she’s not singing her pop drabble, I’m not exactly sure if she’s what the demographic is looking for.
The addition of Lady Gaga to season five of “American Horror Story” comes off of Adam Lambert’s addition to “Glee” and Ariana Grande, Nick Jonas, and Keke Palmer’s addition to the upcoming series, “Scream Queens.” All three television shows are created by the hit making team of Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk. And I have no idea why these two men are so dead set on adding teen pop stars to their projects. I know I’d love to see the addition of more iconic actors and horror stars, as “American Horror Story” has done before with Jessica Lange, Kathy Bates, and Angela Basset.
It is expected that the subtitle – as seen with “Horror House,” “Asylum,” “Cove,” and “Freakshow” – for season five will be announced next month at Paleyfest.
Lady Gaga has had three #1 albums and five #1 singles since her career began in 2008. As an actress, she has appeared in two movies: Machete Kills and Sin City 2: A Dame to Kill For.
