KungFuCinema is reporting that martial arts expert and action film star Darren Shahlavi passed away this morning at the age of 42. A cause of death is still unknown, but his passing is described as unexpected.
Although he is most known for the dozens of action films he starred in, Darren Shahlavi appeared in a number of horror and science fiction titles. He was a supporting actor in Legion of the Dead (2001) and Alone in the Dark (2005). He also had numerous cameos in bigger Hollywood movies such as Bloodrayne (2005), Slither (2006), Watchmen (2009), and Red Riding Hood (2011).
Darren was no stranger to horror and science fiction on television, too. His many guest spots on TV include “Merlin’s Apprentice” (2006), “Reaper” (2007), “Bionic Woman” (2007), “Smallville” (2009), “Mortal Combat: Legacy” (2011), “Continuum” (2013), and “Once Upon A Time in Wonderland” (2013).
Being that he was also a stuntman, Shahlavi helped to choreograph and tackle films such as The Chronicles of Riddick (2004), Blade: Trinity (2004), and The Day the Earth Stood Still (2008).
All of us at HorrorSociety.com send our condolences to his family, friends, and fans.
R.I.P. Darren Shahlavi
