Paramount’s ‘The Ring’ Reboot ‘Rings’ Casts its Female Lead

Paramount has announced the casting of its female lead in their upcoming reboot of The Ring films entitled, Rings. Relative newcomer Matilda Lutz (pictured below) has been cast to star. Read on for more details.

Italian actress Matilda Lutz has been cast as the female lead in F. Javier Gutierrez’s horror movie Rings, which serves as the next chapter in the popular Ring franchise.

Rings will be produced by Walter Parkes and Laurie MacDonald which will again feature Samara and a deadly videotape. Naomi Watts, who starred in the original film will not appear in this film, it will feature a new cast entirely.

The script was written by Akiva Goldsman, David Loucka and Jacon Aaron Estes. The Ring films are based on the novel by Kôji Suzuki and the Japanese film, Ringu.

In the 2002 American remake directed by Gore Verbinski, A young journalist must investigate a mysterious videotape which seems to cause the death of anyone in a week of viewing it.
