New details have been released about the Walking Dead spinoff series tentatively titled Cobalt. The series which takes place in the same universe as The Walking Dead will be set in Los Angeles during the infancy of the zombie apocalypse.
AMC will be looking to tell a completely different story with the new series. It is being reported the new series will be a prequel to the existing show. The series being called Cobalt so far will take place in Los Angeles when the apocalypse is only beginning.
Robert Kirkman who co-created the comic and executive produces The Walking Dead will serve as writer with Dave Erickson for the pilot and will executive produce along with Gale Anne Hurd and Dave Alpert. Dave Erickson will also serve as showrunner for the series. Adam Davidson has been tapped to direct the pilot episode.
The already cast Cliff Curtis (Gang Related) will star as Sean Cabrera, a teacher who shares a son with his ex-wife, Andrea. The character is described as a good man trying to do right by everyone in his life.
Other cast members include Alycia Debnam Carey, Frank Dillane and Juan Gabriel Pareja who will be playing “Morales”.
