Wow! How about that for a casting coup, folks. Fox has just announced the casting of horror vets Jamie Lee Curtis and Emma Roberts as the leads of the upcoming horror series entitled, Scream Queens. The series comes from Glee creators Ryan Murphy (American Horror Story), Brad Falchuk and Ian Brennan. Read on for all the details.
The 15-episode first installment of the anthology series, slated for next fall, revolves around a college campus that is rocked by a series of murders.
Curtis needs no introduction to horror fans as she built a name for herself early in her career with genre outings in John Carpenter’s Halloween 1&2, Prom Night, The Fog, Terror Train and came back to the Halloween series again with Halloween H20: 20 Years Later & Halloween: Resurrection.
Roberts was a lead in Wes Craven’s Scream 4 and more recently starred in Murphy’s hit FX series, American Horror Story Season 3’s Coven and Season 4’s Freak Show.
With the casting of Curtis, Murphy continues to lure to TV great but underutilized actresses of a certain age with meaty, showy roles, which he has done successfully on AHS with Jessica Lange, Angela Bassett and Kathy Bates.
More on this as it develops!
