From The Press Release
Leading online art retailer Easyart has today added never before sold Hammer Horror posters to its collection of gore-fest horror posters.
It will be the first time these posters have been made available on Easyart as previously they were only available on Hammer Horror’s own website.
Hammer Films, formed in 1934, is best known for its series of gothic ‘Hammer Horror’ films made from the mid-1950s until the 1970s that starred Peter Cushing and Christopher Lee.
Breaking new visual ground, Hammer always had an eye for gothic romanticism and also produced science fiction, thrillers, film noir and comedies — and, in later years, television series.
‘The Curse of Frankenstein’ (Terence Fisher, 1957) was Hammer’s first colour horror film (and was the most important horror film since Universal’s Dracula).
Its contemporary impact was immense and the public’s appetite for it was huge.
Hammer followed it up with its natural successor, Dracula (Terence Fisher, 1958).
Other Hammer Horror films that followed included ‘The Mummy’ (1959), ‘The Curse of the Werewolf’ (1960) and its own version of Dracula, now widely considered superior to the ‘classic’ Universal movies it was inspired by.
The new posters available from Easyart are:
THE CURSE OF FRANKENSTEIN
DRACULA 1958 (RESTORED)
DRACULA (UK PREMIERE BROCHURE)
DRACULA (TRADE ADVERT)
TWINS OF EVIL
The posters are released just in time for anyone who wants to up the Halloween ante this year and range from £14.95 as an upframmed poster on Easyart.com.
