Night of the Living Dead (1968)
Tonight’s pick is one of the most influential horror films of all time. I find myself always watching this film around Halloween every year for some reason. Night of the Living Dead from director George A. Romero redefined a sub-genre of horror and changed the way zombies are perceived forever. This popular monster went from being a docile, un-scary voodoo controlled slave to shambling, flesh-eating fiends. There would be no Walking Dead, World War Z or Resident Evil without the contributions of George A. Romero and co-writer, John Russo. I could write a dissertation on the film and everything it has accomplished, but that my friends if for another day.
Night of the Living Dead is written by John Russo and George A. Romero. It is of course directed by George A. Romero. The cast includes Duane Jones, Judith O’Dea, Karl Hardman, Marilyn Eastman, Keith Wayne, Judith Ridley and Kyra Schon.
