Broadway/film/TV actress Patti LuPone has been added as a guest star for season 2 which begins filming in Dublin later this month. Meanwhile, Helen McCrory, who plays spiritualist Madame Kali, and Simon Russell Beale, who plays Egyptologist Ferdinand Lyle, have been upped to series regulars.
LuPone, a Tony winner on Broadway for Evita and Gypsy, will play a mysterious character of great importance in the life of Vanessa (Eva Green).
Penny Dreadful is created, written, and executive produced by three-time Oscar nominee John Logan (Hugo, The Aviator, Gladiator) and stars Timothy Dalton, Eva Green, Josh Hartnett, Rory Kinnear, Helen McCrory, and Billie Piper.
Some of literature’s most terrifying characters, including Dr. Frankenstein, Dorian Gray, and iconic figures from the novel Dracula, are lurking in the darkest corners of Victorian London. “PENNY DREADFUL” is a frightening psychological thriller that weaves together these classic horror origin stories into a new adult drama.
