The 2014 Primetime Emmy Awards Ceremony is over and the winners have been chosen!
Jessica Lange won the Emmy for ‘Outstanding Lead Actress in a Mini-series or Movie’ for her role in “American Horror Story: Coven.” This is the third Emmy Award win of her career and the second she’s received for her work in “American Horror Story.” Kathy Bates also won an Emmy for her place in “American Horror Story: Coven,” her award being ‘Outstanding Supporting Female in a Mini-series or Movie.’ This is the second Emmy Award win of her career.
“Fargo,” while not totally in your face horror, did very well for a freshman series on FX. It managed to steal the win from “American Horror Story: Coven” and it won the award for ‘Outstanding Mini-Series or Movie.’ Martin Freeman and Billy Bob Thorton were nominated for ‘Outstanding Lead Actor in a Mini-Series’ based on their roles in “Fargo,” but lost out to Benedict Cumberbatch in “Sherlock.” “Fargo” also won the award for ‘Outstanding Directing for a Miniseries, Movie or a Dramatic Special’ thanks to Colin Bucksey, the second award it went head to head for with “American Horror Story: Coven.”
Despite being critically acclaimed and one of the most watched shows on television, “The Walking Dead” was only nominated in two categories – ‘Outstanding Special Visual Effects’ and ‘Outstanding Sound Editing’ – and failed to win either of them.
