Sigourney Weaver has signed on to the cast of the feature adaptation of children’s novel A Monster Calls by Patrick Ness. The award winning children’s novel has already cast Felicity Jones and Liam Neeson. Read on for more details below.
Juan Antonio Bayona (The Impossible) will be directing the film for Focus Features, River Road Entertainment, Participant Media and Lionsgate International.
A Monster Calls is about a young boy who attempts to deal with bullying at the hands of his classmates, and his mother’s terminal illness, by escaping into a fantastical world through the guidance of a tree monster.
Sigourney Weaver will play the boy’s grandmother. Jones is on board as the mother, while Neeson is playing the titular monster.
A Monster Calls will hit theaters in North America on Oct. 14, 2016.
