GHOST LIGHT hits festivals across the country!
GHOST LIGHT is an AFI Graduate Thesis film that has taken the country by storm since it’s premiere in March 2014. Produced by Ahmed Best (Star Wars, Robot Chicken, Stomp) and written/directed by PJ Germain, the film is a scifi thriller starring Abraham Benrubi (E.R., Bosch, Without a Paddle) as Harvey, an estranged father who, after breaking down on a deserted stretch of Old Route 66, is forced to chase his delinquent son Brandon into the woods of Oklahoma. Determined to get Brandon to his destination and wash his hands clean of him forever, Harvey follows Brandon to an old, rundown 24 hour diner, where things aren’t as they seem. Unbeknownst to Harvey and his son, a malevolent force is lurking in the shadows, waiting for the moment to strike and separate father and son once and for all.
GHOST LIGHT is inspired by the American Folklore tale of the Spooklight or “Ghost Light” that has plagued Route 66 since the advent of roads. Coupled with a visual style that represents an adoration of both the 1980’s blockbuster and the BMovie entertainment of Roger Corman, Tales from the Crypt and Creep Show, the project garnered educational grants from Deluxe, Panavision, Kodak and LucasFilm, making it one of the last projects to run 35mm film through the Deluxe Lab in Hollywood, CA.
GHOST LIGHT premiered and won Best In Show at the Wizard World Sacramento Comic Con and since then, Wizard World has taken GHOST LIGHT on a nationally covered tour, playing at over 10 cities in 2014. Recently, the film independently screened at the LA Shorts Fest, Fright Night Film Festival, Florida Supercon, the Long Island International Film Expo and made it’s UK debut at the Cinefringe Festival on July 31st, 2014.
In the coming weeks, GHOST LIGHT will be screened at the Galactic Film Festival in Santa Ana, CA on August 9th; the Hollyshorts Film Festival in Los Angeles, CA on August 17th; the Dragon*Con Independent Film Festival in Atlanta, GA August 29th September 1st; and the White Sands International Film Festival in Las Cruces, NM on September 4th and 6th.
