We’re still trying to play catch up with all the stories coming out of the San Diego Comic-Con this past weekend and we have some news that the fans of the wonderful NBC thriller Hannibal may enjoy. Executive Producer and showrunner Bryan Fuller was on hand to tease some details for Season 3 of the show. Read on for all the details.
Show stars Mads Mikkelsen and Hugh Dancy were not on hand but both provided video greetings to the crowd on hand in Ballroom 20. Showrunner Bryan Fuller provided some insights in to the upcoming Season 3 of the show. Season 3 will pick up a year after the brutal events of the Season 2 finale. Episode 4 of Season 3 will fill in what happened between the two cycles, Bryan Fuller disclosed.
Fuller also revealed that fan favorite Eddie Izzard will return in Season 3 for a flashback scene to applause from the packed ballroom about the reappearance of the losing limbs Dr. Abel Gideon. Izzard appeared in 5 episodes in Season 2.
Fuller hints that as well as returning characters, there will be characters introduced from Thomas Harris’ books that have not appeared on the show before. Fuller also notes that Season 3 will follow a different format than previous seasons. The season will be split into two separate parts ala The Walking Dead formula. So the first half of the season will have its finale and then the second half of the season will also have a finale almost as if you’re getting two seasons in one.
