The Purge: Anarchy just opened this past weekend and has already proven to be a success at the box office. The film opened at $29.8 million with a production budget of only $9 million. Now, The Purge: Anarchy will be getting its own attraction at both the Orlando and Hollywood Universal Studio’s Halloween Horror Nights this coming October. Read on for more details.
According to Variety, Since The Purge: Anarchy was a hit in theaters this weekend, it will become a Scarezone at Universal’s Halloween Horror Nights in Hollywood and Orlando.
The Purge sequel will join other new attractions at this years Halloween event including From Dusk Till Dawn and Syfy’s Face Off. The event transforms the studio into a nightly Halloween themed haunted attraction for a month during the Halloween season.
Halloween Horror Nights takes place from September 19th – November 1st, 2014.
The Purge scarezone will reimagine the film’s premise that revolves around all crime being legal one night a year, with the film themeing Universal Studios’ New York City backlot streets.
“‘Halloween Horror Nights’ is about taking guests out of their comfort zones and placing them at the core of unimaginable horror,” said John Murdy, Universal Studios Hollywood’s creative director for and executive producer of “Halloween Horror Nights.” “Because the premise of ‘The Purge’ could theoretically happen, our scare-zone elevates that sense of fear and forces you to really watch your back. Imagining how your neighbor, friend or enemy could take revenge on you without retribution because you wronged them takes horror to a whole new level, and we wanted to bring that gut-wrenching terror to every one of our guests.”
The Purge: Anarchy stars Frank Grillo, Carmen Ejogo, Zach Gilford, Kiele Sanchez and Michael K. Williams. It is directed by James DeMonaco.
