A little over two months ago, Dave Brockie aka Oderus Urungus, frontman of the outrageous metal band GWAR had suddenly passed away. Brockie’s passing caused a huge outpour of emotion, not only from the band but from the metal world as well. There was no cause known for his death, until today and I’m sad to say that according to the medical examiner, Brockie died from an accidental heroine overdose. This was such a senseless death that didn’t need to happen. Read on for more details.
According to CBS 6 WTVR, Dave Brockie, lead singer and mastermind of Richmond-based art/shock-rock metal band GWAR died of an accidental heroin overdose, according to the State Medical Examiner’s Office.
The M.E.’s official cause of death: acute heroin toxicity, means: accident.
Brockie, was found unresponsive by his roommate in his North Richmond home on March 23. Responding police investigators found evidence of heroin use, but the cause of death wasn’t finalized until toxicology tests were completed.
Friends had been worried about his behavior and suspected his known penchant for marijuana smoking and partying had taken a bad turn.
Such a tragic story made even sadder by today’s news.
