Hot on the heels of last weeks casting announcement of Frank Grillo being cast in the lead role of Universal’s The Purge 2, comes word of more cast hires. To find out who has been added to the film, read on down below.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, The sequel to Universal and Blumhouse’s The Purge has added Boardwalk Empire actor Michael K. Williams, Sparkle star Carmen Ejogo, Friday Night Lights actor Zach Gilford and A Perfect Getaway actress Kiele Sanchez (pictured) to its cast.
Returning alongside writer-director-producer James DeMonaco and Jason Blum to produce the next chapter of the thriller are Sebastien Lemercier and Michael Bay’s Platinum Dunes. The Purge 2 is scheduled to hit theaters on June 20th, 2014.
Plot details are under wraps but there’s plenty of opportunity to explore the dystopian world established in the first film, which starred Ethan Hawke as a security system designer protecting his family from home invasion on the one night each year when the cops take a day off to let crime run rampant.
