The NBC genre thriller Grimm is getting a little bit more interesting this season as genre vet Dee Wallace (The Howling, E.T. the Extraterrestrial) has been cast in a recurring role as the blutbad Monroe’s mother.  Another genre veteran Chris Mulkey (The Purge, The Hidden) will play his father on the show.

According to TVLine, Dee Wallace  and Chris Mulkey will play the Wesen’s mom and dad, Alice and Bart, later this season. Word has it that Monroe’s parents will be making some appearances later on this season in relation to his and Rosalee’s rumored wedding.

Series co-creator/executive producer David Greenwalt says – “They’re a little old-fashioned,” Greenwalt warned, implying that Monroe’s purist folks may not like the idea of their son being romantically involved with a Fuchsbau — and friends with a Grimm.

It is also rumored that Monroe has to convince his parents to open up to his way of life or risk destroying his relationship with them.

Dee Wallace is best known for her genre roles such as The Howling, E.T. the Extraterrestrial, The Hills Have Eyes, Cujo, The Frighteners and many more.  Recently, Wallace has been seen in The Lords of Salem, Hansel & Gretel, and Robocroc.

Chris Mulkey has had extensive appearances on TV and film, most notably in “First Blood”, “The Hidden”, “Twin Peaks” and more recently in “The Purge“.
