Where Are They Now? : Amelia Kinkade

ameliakinkadeDespite the porn star sounding name, Amelia Kinkade is the farthest thing from an adult entertainer…although her body was displayed almost in full in the cult classic Night of The Demons.

Amelia Kinkade was born in Texas in 1963 to a family already associated with fame and glamour; Amelia being the niece of the late Rue McClanahan – most known for her time on “The Golden Girls.” Her early passion was dance, a hobby that she pursued under many different teachers and universities until she eventually earned her degree in modern dance from the Interlochen Arts Academy in Michigan.

This hobby turned into a bonefied profession and led Amelia to appear in a few movies including Breakin’ 2 (1984), Fast Forward (1985), and Girls Just Want To Have Fun (1985). She would even land a guest spot on her aunt’s television show in 1986. But perhaps her biggest role of all came in 1988 when she appeared as “Angela” in Kevin Tenney’s Night of The Demons. Amelia’s possessed dance in front of the fire at Hull House has become one of the top 100 moments in horror movie history.

After her iconic role in Night of The Demons, Amelia continued to appear in television shows and movies with credits include Roadhouse (1989) and “The Young and The Restless” (1989). Due to the cult success of the first film, Night of The Demons 2 and 3 came to production with Kinkade again reprising her role as the demonic “Angela.” Although the sequels weren’t as successful and her role wasn’t as acclaimed, horror fans still fell in love with the dastardly diva.

In 1997 Amelia Kinkade retired from acting and moved to Los Angeles with her seventeen cats. Instead of acting and dancing, she started to pursue another hobby and career – artistry and writing. She independently created several children’s books. But this wasn’t the end of her creativity, not by a long shot.

Currently, Amelia Kinkade is – get this – a renowned animal psychic. In other words, Kinkade has the ability to communicate psychically with animals (apparently). By 2005 she was featured in two documentaries dealing with the topic of animal psychics, and by 2006 she had published two books advising others on how to listen to and communicate with their pets.

Kinkade is currently touring California and Africa, sharing her stories of animal communication, teaching others how to share in the talent, and promoting her new books. You can find her next appearances at her official website. She has two shows lined up for July 2013. https://www.ameliakinkade.com/

Do I believe in her gift? I’m not really sure, but at least this is a former horror star’s update that had a happy ending and much success in another field.
