Regular readers of Horror Society already know that we’ve been covering the progress of the indie film WolfCop for quite a while now. Just as a recap, WolfCop has been entered into the prestigious Canadian CineCoup film accelerator competition as a way for independent filmmakers to develop, market and finance their feature films with the help of social media.
WolfCop is a horror film that has not been made yet, only a two minute trailer which you can see below has been filmed in which to enter the CineCoup competition in which 90 films were entered. Filmmaking teams apply to CineCoup with a two-minute trailer then advance through a gamified selection funnel that’s designed to package their projects and build fan support on the CineCoup social web platform. The films do not exist aside from the trailer, and if victorious, get funding to film the project and are guaranteed a release in Canadian theaters.
Currently, WolfCop is in the top ten in the CineCoup competition with the voting for the top five to begin tomorrow. Out of 90 films entered, WolfCop is in the final ten films and is the last horror film standing in the competition. If WolfCop makes it to the top five, there will be a vote by a jury of industry professionals and the winner will receive $1 million dollars towards production financing and guaranteed release across Canadian theaters in 2014.
