This news that came in today is either going to enrage some people or make others jump for joy. Rob Zombie and his films have always been hit or miss with the fans and I’ve always felt he’s a better musician than filmmaker. Anyways, Zombie was interviewed recently by the Phoenix New Times, one of the questions posed to him may have some serious implications for fans of his horror films.
The question asked is, if he will ever do a monster movie?
His response: “No. I’m not really thinking of doing anything . . . Lords of Salem is my last sort of horror-genre related film for a really long time.”
That news is a kick in the nuts for fans that really love his genre films, but you can take it with a grain of salt. It is Hollywood after all and one thing I’ve learned is that you never say never in this business!
If Zombie wants to be an Jess Franco , ok : he ‘s got the attitude.
If he wants to make “serious” movies about hockey , politics or a drama about a travestite marine , he’s going to make a piece of crap.
He ‘s got no talent to make a Citizen Kane, but it’s full of talent to make creepy cool movies about monsters and psychokillers.
Be honest, Rob , stay on terror.
