Angelica novel coverI don’t know about you guys, but I’m a sucker for a good ghost story, that’s why I’m always glad to hear about any new films that feature those spectral entities we all know and love.   Today we have word on a new Victorian ghost story in development that will star Jena Malone (The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, Sucker Punch) called Angelica.

Deadline is reporting, Coming off supporting turns in History’s Emmy-winning miniseries Hatfields & McCoys and Lionsgate’s upcoming Hunger Games sequel Catching Fire, Jena Malone is stepping into the lead to tangle with seductive specters in Victorian England.

Mitchell Lichtenstein (Teeth, Happy Tears) is directing Angelica, a psychological thriller set in 1880s London based on the novel of the same name by bestselling author Arthur Phillips (Prague, The Egyptologist). Malone will play Constance, a young shop girl who falls for and marries Dr. Joseph Barton. After the difficult childbirth of their daughter Angelica, doctor-ordered celibacy creates a rift in the Bartons’ marriage and a ghostly force enters their home.
