*Let me introduce you to Kelly Washington! Kelly is an amazing young woman and is sure to become one of the best and brightest in Hollywood. In just three short years, Kelly has done several short films, several movies, and recently appeared on NBC’s hit comedy series, Parks and Recreation.

So, why am I interviewing Kelly Washington? Well, Kelly plays one of the lead roles, Amanda, in the upcoming horror film Leprechaun’s Revenge which premieres on SyFy Channel tonight at 9:00PM! In Leprechaun’s Revenge, “An evil leprechaun who has been imprisoned within the roots of a majestic old oak tree, is accidentally set loose on St. Patrick’s Day. Once free, he takes out his bloody revenge on the descendants of the people who originally imprisoned him.”
In my quick and little (no pun intended) interview with Kelly, she will mention small tidbits of information about her role in Leprechaun’s Revenge and just details about filming in general. For such an articulate, beautiful, and high-spirited woman, it seems like Kelly is actually a horror fan! Check out the interview below and don’t forget to catch Leprechaun’s Revenge tonight at 9:00PM only on SyFy! (It will also have an encore presentation at 1:00AM, btw.)
Q: To start things off, can you tell readers about yourself?
K: Hi, my name is Kelly Washington and I love leprechauns because they are small like me. Actually, I have a few feet on them. I am originally from Georgia but recently moved to Los Angeles. Acting is my life and I love it. I went to school for a bit in NYC for musical theater but booked a job that brought me over here to the West Coast. I love the sunshine, hanging out with my friends and family, swimming, and traveling to new places. My favorite food is Goldfish (the snack that smiles back). I take them with me everywhere I go. :)
Q: How did you end up becoming a part of Leprechaun’s Revenge?
K: Actually, I happen to be a leprechaun… just kidding. I auditioned for the role, and about a month later I got a call saying, “Pack your bags! You’re going to Louisiana!!”
Q: Can you tell readers a little about your character, “Amanda?”
K: Amanda is fun, outgoing, and cares about Karen a lot. She definitely looks out for her to the best of her ability with the knowledge she has. She’s spunky and can’t wait to be the center of attention as the Queen of the Saint Patrick’s Day parade!
Q: Being that this is your first horror film, was it everything that you expected?
K: It was everything I expected and more! It was an exciting experience, and I hope I get the opportunity to do another one soon. Getting to see the behind the scenes of how all the blood and guts is made was awesome! It grossed me out just as much as it would if I saw it on screen, haha. Some of the locations, especially when we were filming late at night, were super creepy! I enjoyed every minute of it.
Q: Is there one experience from filming that you will always remember before any others? Can you share it?
K: There are so many great stories I could tell. Two that stick out in my mind are filming the St. Patrick’s Day parade. It was FREEZING and I was in this tiny dress. It took everything I had not to shiver. Everyone was so sweet, as soon as the camera stopped rolling, they’d rush up and throw a bunch of jackets and blankets on me. It was intense, but a lot of fun. Another great story was when I was driving the VW Bug. I’m not exactly the tallest girl you’ll ever meet, so my feet couldn’t reach the brake! It was a mess, I almost ran into the camera!
Q: I figure running from a giant Leprechaun is…different, but definitely SyFy Channel Movie material. Have you ever seen these kind of movies on SyFy before?
K: Haha, indeed it was! I have actually! They’re such a great mixture of horror, spooks, humor, and fun! Also some great shows, got to love me some Battlestar Galactica!
Q: Favorite horror film?
K: There are several that influenced me. Classics like Psycho. Hitchcock is a big part of the genre; and with Psycho, there’s such a great female performance from Janet Leigh. Along the same lines, I love the original Friday the 13th, because I haven’t seen too many great horror films where there’s-SPOILER ALERT!-a female murderer. I loved Scream, because it played as a great whodunit mystery as well as a violent slasher. And Alien is an amazing scifi horror flick. Seriously, watch it alone in the dark. Uh oh!
*Thank you for taking the time to chat with me, Miss Washington. I can’t wait to catch the encore of Leprechaun’s Revenge tonight! To read Kelly’s full bio and acting resume, visit her official site here.
