Synopsis: An alcoholic man moves his family into an old New England house, hoping that renovating the old place would help bring them all closer together. The house has a large pond in the back yard that they think would be great for swimming. However, unbeknownst to them, the pond was the site of an evil witch's execution over three hundred years earlier. Soon the family is fighting an evil far worse than death and their dream home becomes a nightmare. Will they survive or will they become the evil's next victim?
Roy: First off, I love this movie! The first time I saw it I was 16 and at the drive-in. Don't get me wrong, this is a b-movie, so the acting could have been better. The death scenes were top notch and very inventive for the time. The plot was pretty good. The atmosphere and score were very good for a low buget flick.
I highly recommend it for anyone who loves that classic 80's Horror. It's not the greatest horror flick of all time, but it's worth it for a stormy saturday night.
Tommy: I saw this movie as well when it first came out. I believe I was 12 or 13 years old. The scene at the beginning, when the guy gets cut in half by the window is really intense and gross. The gore is very graphic and the atmosphere is creepy as hell! The demonic laughter of the witch made my skin crawl!
This one kinda reminds me of an italian horror flick. I think there might be a little Argento in Mr. Roberson's blood. The acting was so-so even though at times several of the actors seemed to drift off in la-la land. The movie overall was a great experience and any real horror fan shouldn't miss this b-movie gem. You won't be disappointed.
