REVIEW: Incident on and Off a Mountain Road

Incident on and Off a Mountain Road Season 1, Episode 1

www.imdb.com/title/tt0643107/

This is the very first Masters of Horror episodes and one of the best. It’s late and I’m not too with it right now. But I do know a good flick if I see one, and this is on of them. I’m not sure if I should call this a movie, short, short movie, or just a flick. It’s about 51 minutes long, but when you are watching it, it really feels a lot longer. Not in a bad way, but definitely a good way. It seems like it just goes on and when it’s over you really don’t want it to end at all.

Anyway, here’s a bit about the plot. There is this girl that is driving on a road, she gets into an accident, checks on the other driver, and POOF…the other driver is gone. Not sure about what just happened; this girl gets attacked, chased through the woods by some kind of freak, the ends up at a house in the middle of nowhere. All the while she is having these flashbacks (so to speak) of what happened to her that put her in this situation. I personally think this is one of the best horror flicks that the masters of horror put out. Some of them have not been that great for me, but I am a bit hardened by crazy gore lately.

Incident has a real horror feel to it and puts it on the top of the series for me. Watching this flick really gets your blood pumping then puts you back down on the characters level by showing you a little “previous” footage of the characters life before the “incident”. This on has a good plot and you can tell that it really has a meaning to it and not just some senseless violence and gore. Once you get involved with the story and see how it progresses with the flashback scenes you really get to feel sorry for this girl. Of course like any good flick you get a twist in the end that you don’t really expect.

And no I’m not going to tell you, just go buy the DVD! Everyone in this acts quite well which is a breath of fresh air simply because of my viewing habits lately. (B-movies galore and not one of them has any actors in them.) The lead character is played by Bree Turner. She does a very good job in getting to the point and telling you how it is without being to cute or too gruff. Her boyfriend/husband is played by Ethan Embry. Not too much said about him here other than he is some kind of a survivalist and gets into trouble in the end. The mythical monster type killer guy is played by John De Santis. And last but certainly not least is a nice little tid bit by none other than the Tall Man himself, Angus Scrimm. So if you got an hour to kill and want to check out some good horror like horror is supposed to be, go and rent, or buy Incident On and Off a Mountain Road.

It’s worth the watch!!
