Dedee Pfeiffer stars in one of the most underrated horror films of the 1990’s, so I figured I would give her some shine in this edition of Where Are They Now?. Born in January of 1964 in the state of California, Dedee was the middle sister sandwiched between Michelle and Lori Pfeiffer, with all three women going on to have lucrative and successful careers in Hollywood. Ms. Pfeiffer started popping up in our favorite genre in the 80’s, with a supporting role in horror-comedy The Midnight Hour (1985) and playing the lead, Allison, in horror-comedy Vamp (1986). These parts were followed up with another co-starring role in The Horror Show (1989) until she reached a milestone success by booking the lead, Lana, in Sandman (1993). During this time she made guest appearances on shows including “Dream On,” “Hotel,” “Jack’s Place,” “Midnight Caller,” “Seinfeld” and “Wings,” which ultimately culminated in a recurring role as Rachel Blanders in “Cybill” from 1995 to 1997.
Crossing into the new millennium, Pfeiffer continued another recurring role in “For Your Love” from 1998 to 2002 while also making guest spots in “Friends” and “One on One.” Future television appearances would include “Burn Notice,” “CSI,” “The Dead Zone” and “Supernatural.” However, when the gore door was knocked on again, Dedee answered. She starred as Maria in shark attack movie Blue Demon (2004), was featured in Hoboken Hollow (2006), and co-starred as Hillary in mockbuster AVH: Alien vs Hunter (2007) and as Emily in Journey to the Center of the Earth (2008). Now, I’d be remiss if I didn’t mention some of her out of genre lead roles, which include romantic comedy The Allnighter (1987), romantic drama Up Close & Personal (1996), action flick Radical Jack (2000) and drama The Sky is Falling (2001).
So, where is Dedee Pfieffer now?
Her career as an actress slowed as it entered its third decade. A 2011 interview for Vamp attests that she put acting on the back-burner while she pursued education and a career in psychology. Dedee is even going as far as looking at a master’s degree in the area of forensic psychology. Remember, it’s never too late to discover something you’re truly passionate about. Still, she has taken a few acting jobs in the 2010’s. She made cameos in drama Flatline (2010) and in psychological horror’s L.A. I Hate You (2011). She can also be seen in a larger capacity in short film ShowRunner (2016).
