It was recently announced that Hunter Johnson’s 2 Jennifer had secured a distribution deal through Sector 5 Films and was scheduled to hit the horror masses this summer. That, to me, was pretty big news in itself, but I just stumbled across information now that makes me believe that the franchise is going to evolve from a two film saga and into a (insert Randy Meeks voice) …trilogy…
This information was uploaded to IMDB in early April, which isn’t always the best source for honest information. But, here it goes anyway…
The third film in the found footage horror, shot solely on an iPhone franchise is tentatively titled #FromJennifer.
As James Cullen Bressack handed the directorial duties to Hunter Johnson between To Jennifer (2013) and 2 Jennifer (2016), Johnson has now handed the reigns over to Frank Merle for #FromJennifer. Merle has directed over ten short films and was included in AAAHHH!!! Indie Horror Hits: Volume 2 in 2010. He also produced 2 Jennifer and it makes sense that the team would want to keep things in the family so to speak.
Bressack will serve as executive producer on #FromJennifer, having previously written, directed, produced and edited To Jennifer and executively producing and acting in sequel 2 Jennifer. He is known for Pernicious (2014) and has a highly anticipated release, Restoration, coming in just a few weeks!
Johnson will also return to produce.
To Jennifer and 2 Jennifer both had definite endings, with something sinister usually happening to the title character. Still, the team behind these films always find a way to keep the character and their legacy coming back for more. I’m psyched to see how #FromJennifer handles the morbid infatuation once again.
