R.I.P. Frank Finlay

Frank-finlay-1Now that his family has had time to take in the initial shock and grief of it all, reports have come in confirming that British actor Frank Finlay has passed away. In a statement with People.com, it was mentioned that he passed away at home following a battle with a “short illness” while being surrounded by his family. The BAFTA Winner, Golden Globe Nominee and Oscar Nominee was 89 at the time of his passing on Saturday.

Frank Finlay is most known for playing Porthos is a number of iconic Musketeer installments including The Three Musketeers (1973), The Four Musketeers: Milady’s Revenge (1974) and The Return of the Musketeers (1989). He also held lead and supporting roles in other hit films including Casanova, Othello, The Pianist and Return of the Soldier.

Finlay also held lead and supporting roles in a number of horror films including A Study in Terror (1965), The Deadly Bees (1966), Twisted Nerve (1968), The Exorcism of Hugh (1972), Count Dracula (1977), Ring of Darkness (1979), Lifeforce (1985) and Ghosthunter (2000).
