Sequel Watch: 2 violent, 2 horrifying… “2 Jennifer.”

91+lTKyrkyL._SL1500_Fall 2013 saw the release of James Cullen Bressack’s To Jennifer. From an independent standpoint, the film was quite successful; gathering mostly positive reviews, winning over four awards internationally and receiving wide distribution through Psykik Junky Pictures. Fast forward two years and a sequel, 2 Jennifer, is currently in the works. It boasts the logline of 2 violent, 2 horrifying, 2 Jennifer. Details have just been released that link the two films together and establish them as a budding indie horror franchise.

Bressack was the man in charge of To Jennifer, but it appears that he has passed the reigns over to Hunter Johnson; an up-and-coming writer/director with several other horror themed titles on his plate. It should be noted that the original film’s director is still attached to this project as an executive producer and will appear as an actor in the film, although his character in To Jennifer will differentiate from the one in 2 Jennifer as he will be playing himself. Jarrett Furst will return as well, also playing himself, alongside Charles Chudabala, Matt Holbrook, Josh Brown, David Coupe and Johnson. Horror actress Jessica Cameron played Jennifer in the previous entry but as of this writing no details have emerged in relation to who will play the character now.

It seems that Johnson and Bressack are going the New Nightmare and Scream 2 root by creating a film that exists inside a film. Horror inception! A short synopsis has been provided: “Two filmmakers attempt to make the perfect sequel to “To Jennifer,” however a dark secret threatens the lives of everyone involved. Jennifer, a beautiful actress, now has two options: become the heroine of the film, or face a brutal death.”

Being that 2 Jennifer is only in pre-production, I’ll make sure to keep you all updated as more news starts to roll in.
