Recently I learned that one of my favorite directors, Dustin Mills, did the animation for the song Spider Love for Neomythics. Sadly, my email has been a little buggy the last week or so and this slipped by me. Better late than never!
I received the following press release:
Neomythics return with More Protection their third record of 10 original songs that
connect a generational sound with contemporary social concepts. Musicians Matt
Montgomery and Gregory Howe create rock and roll minded compositions with a driving rhythm
section, beautiful piano, intense vocals and big guitars. Legendary guitar innovator
and recording artist Harvey Mandel is featured throughout the album.
The new music video for “Spider Love” is a creation of film producer Dustin Wayde
Mills. Of the song’s concept, Howe says, “It’s a one time deal for the males, so
why do they tap? Why are they drawn to the fire? I’m just glad, as humans, we don’t
wind up in a cocoon… At least not physically.”
Musically and lyrically, More Protection furthers many of the themes commenced on
Neomythics’ debut album for Ex-Fed Records, New Corporate Resistance and it’s follow-up
Projectiles. Sparse yet precise, the pocket on More Protection is a solid foundation
on which provocative vocal performances and memorable guitar solos rest upon.
Joining Neomythics on More Protection are multi-musician Jimmy Fontana, slide guitarist
Bruce Bjerka, and back-up singers Nathalie Sanchez and Lisa Rein.
This band is new to me but their music is rather catchy. Check the video out below. You can also check them out on Facebook and their official site.
