Have you ever heard of a film called Manos: The Hands of Fate? Neither have I. It was critically panned when it was released in 1966, so much so that it is the #3 Worst Film Ever according to IMDB. Manos was the late Harold Warren’s only film, but it saw some sort of rejuvenation in 1993 when it was played as the season finale of Mystery Science Theater 3000. In Manos, “A family gets lost on the road and stumbles upon a hidden, underground, devil-worshiping cult led by the fearsome Master and his servant Torgo.”
I’m not exactly sure why a sequel to this film is being made, but one will be released in 2013. Manos: The Search For Valley Lodge has been filming since early 2011 in El Paso, Texas. Manos II will star former WWE Superstars Gene Snitsky and Maria Kanellis. Three members of the original film will be returning including Debbie played by Jackey Neyman, who was only 7 when the film was shot; Bernie Rosenblum who played a bit part as a teenager featured in a car; and Tom Neyman will reprise his role as the lead Master. Rounding out the cast will be real life horror actresses Helene Udy (original My Bloody Valentine) and Tara Cardinal (Song of The Shattered).
The plot is simply stated as, “A woman battling mental illness regains her memory and heads into the deserts of El Paso, Texas to confront her inner demons and discover her mysterious past.” Rupert Talbot Munch Sr. will serve as writer and director with Jay Lee (Zombie Strippers) taking the job of cinematographer. While I think it’s cool a film will get a sequel 47 years later, I don’t know how excited I should be for this…
2013 has come and gone and still no sign of this sequel. If you read Debbie’s Manos ( https://debbiesmanos.blogspot.ca/2013/12/another-manos-film.html ) she implies that her and the director didn’t see eye to eye.
