Finishing post-production at the end of August is indie horror-thriller, MindFlesh staring Christopher Fairbank (Aliens, Batman, Fifth Element), Peter Bramhill (Human Traffic), Lucy Liemann (Bourne Ultimatum) and introducing sexy French goddess Carole Derrien.

Adapted from the novel “White Light” by William Scheinman, MindFlesh tells the story of a taxi driver, Chris Jackson, whose obsession with a ghostly goddess becomes real. Add cruel extraterrestrials that punish Jackson for pulling the goddess from a parallel dimension and MindFlesh establishes what could be a very successful franchise in the tradition of David Cronenberg.

There are some pretty out-there scenes in MindFlesh that shock not because of their brutality but because of their originality and context.

Film Stars/Actors Ford Austin & Randal Malone Team Up to Fight the “Mutant Rat Invasion”

Indie film star Ford Austin and Hollywood celebrity/actor Randal Malone have been cast opposite each other in the lead roles in the upcoming Michael W. Schwibs Productions feature film entitled “Mutant Rat Invasion”. The film is being helmed by maverick director Jeff Leroy (Creepies I & II, Werewolf in a Women’s Prison, Alien 3000) and is slated for release in early 2008.

“Mutant Rat Invasion” is a feature film about a female astronaut named Sonja who is sent with a team to a distant planet in search of life. The private space exploration firm who finances and produces her space mission is the Steel Space Corporation. The founder and CEO of the Steel Space Corporation, Dr. Steel, is being played by Randal Malone (MTV’s Singled Out, In The Land of the Merry Misfits, The Curse of LIzzie Borden).

“I wanted to do something that hasn’t been done,” Ryan said of his creation that is sure to cause controversy and also have a diehard cult following. “I also wanted something I could afford.”

August 31st Deadline Rapidly Approaching!

August 13, 2007: VersusMedia, along with DreadCentral.com, recently announced an open call to all independent horror filmmakers in a search for THE best independent short horror films for the Horror D’Oeuvres Short Film Competition. Only a little more than two weeks remain for submissions. Indie horror filmmakers are encouraged to expedite submissions of their short horror films for review by both companies before August 31, 2007!

For a simple entry fee of $15, film submissions will be reviewed for the chance to be one of the select few to have a screening at the Eerie Horror Film Festival. In addition, top selections will be awarded the opportunity to be in the upcoming VersusMedia Viewers’ Choice DVD release. The DVD will be available for purchase online as well as at various festivals and locations.

Today we meet Mike, a young man who is totally infatuated with porn. Morning, noon, and night this guy has got the TV full of bouncing bare skin and the lotion ready to rub one out and put his days of carpal tunnel syndrome a lot closer to coming to a surface. Mike will watch anything and even seemed to enjoy clown porn. This boy has got a big problem and needs some serious help.

While at the adult video store a magazine that has this macabre sex freak Andromeda Strange on the cover catches his eye so he purchases and takes it home where he flops down on the couch to read it. After reading an ad suggesting he order some of these over the top porn flicks that she stars in. Now some people say porn and horror don’t mix, to me it was like a bad car accident on the side of the road you don’t wanna look but you have to.

PRODUCTION UNDERWAY ON “THE DEAD MATTER” HORROR-SUSPENSE FILM

CHARDON, Ohio – August 10, 2007 – Midnight Syndicate Films, in partnership with Hollywood FX producer Robert Kurtzman and his company, Precinct 13 Entertainment, began production on “The Dead Matter” feature-length, horror-suspense film, this week, in Crestline, Ohio. Chardon, Ohio-based director and producer Edward Douglas – founder of the nationally-recognized Halloween horror music act Midnight Syndicate – is remaking his original version of the film into Northeast Ohio’s largest locally-produced and independently -funded film, scheduled for release in 2008. Filming is scheduled for the entire month of August.

Headlining the rest of the cast is Andrew Divoff of ABC’s “Lost”, television star Jason Carter and horror film veteran, Tom Savini. Divoff (Vellich), most recently known as the eye-patch-wearing rogue Mikhail Bakunin on ABC’s “Lost”, has acted in “Wishmaster”, “Air Force One” and Precinct 13’s “The Rage” (2007). In addition to films, Carter (Ian) has appeared in television shows including “Babylon 5”, “Beverly Hills 90210” and “Charmed”. Savini (Sebed) is a 30-year veteran in the horror film genre with roles in “Dusk Till Dawn”, “Dawn of the Dead”, and most recently, Quentin Tarantino’s and Robert Rodriguez’s “Grindhouse”.

Ningen Manga Productions premiered the teaser trailer for it’s upcoming feature-length horror film, Women’s Studies, at this past weekend’s Horrorfind Weekend 8 held in Baltimore, Maryland.

The 52 second teaser features a menagerie of images intended to introduce audiences to the main characters and concept of Women’s Studies.

“Above all other story elements, Women’s Studies is a character piece,” explains writer/director Lonnie Martin. “The trailer reflects that, showing the major players of the film in some pretty defining shots. At the same time, I wanted the clip to be a ‘teaser’ in the truest sense of the word and not give away too many details of the plot.”

Scheduled for a 2008 release, Women’s Studies follows a grad student who along with her friends becomes a visitor at a women’s academy where female empowerment is taken to murderous extremes.

The Murder Game is about a group of teenage friends who play this game they made up where one is secretly dealt the card to be the killer. They have a small inventory of weapons and the killer must get them all eliminated before they are found out.

The kids parents can’t understand why they would want to play such a morbid game entailing death and forbid them to play it at the house. They all sit around bored trying to find some way to play with out being bothered or having a parent freaking out.

The next day they fill in their friend Lucy who is very excited to get in that building and play the game. Her goth cousin Collin is staying with her family since he was expelled from his last school. Lucy’s father is some sort of drill sergeant type who will get the kid inline by tough love.
