Mr Brooks Out Soon

Comedian Dane Cook in a horror/thriller movie?? I guess so.
Dane Cook is one of my personal favorite comedians and I just found out he will be one of the stars in a new thriller from MGM. Not really an Indie flick, but I had to get this out there. Maybe this is his breakout role. If not, then he is still one hell of a comic!
Consider MR. BROOKS. A successful businessman, a generous philanthropist, a loving father and devoted husband. Seemingly, he’s perfect. But Mr. Brooks has a secret — he is an insatiable serial killer, so lethally clever that no one has ever suspected him — until now.
Academy Award winner Kevin Costner stars as Earl Brooks, a man who has managed to keep his two incompatible worlds from intersecting by controlling his cunning, wicked alter ego Marshall (Academy Award winner William Hurt) whom he blames for his wrongdoings. But now, as Mr. Brooks succumbs to one last murderous urge, an amateur photographer (Dane Cook) witnesses the crime.

Awaken the Dead

Take some zombies and a man of the cloth armed to the teeth with guns and you got yourself a good movie. This little Indie flick about the end of the world has a different twist to your regular zombie flick.
Plot Synopsis:
It is a dark, grainy, gritty, apocalyptic yet often hilarious redemption tale. AWAKEN THE DEAD is a zombie film that is equal parts espionage drama, dark comedy, and undead action. Two lost souls must band together as a virus infects the world around them. Christopher, a former killer turned priest battles his own inner demons while Mary, a spirited recluse, battles the world. Thrown together, neither knows what brought them there or what is changing the neighborhood around them. Their search for answers forces them to confront hidden truths and a web of conspiracy. The ensemble cast includes a terrified Jehovah’s witness, an over the top ex-marine and his wife, two Asian Schoolgirls, and a massive killer pimp. It is a story of poetic justice, moral growth, cynical laughter and zombies.

Werewolf in a Womens Prison

If you cant wait for the Rob Zombie fake SS Women to become real someday, try this little flick till then. Werewolf in a Womens Prison is a throw back to the good old days of exploitation movies and odd combinations of characters. Nudity, blood, gore, sex and violence are the trademarks of a good exploit flick and it looks like this one has them all.
Plot Synopsis:
Well, just read the title, there is a new inmate at the prison…and this is not your average woman!

REVIEW: Stupid Teenagers Must Die
Review by: Angry Princess
“Stupid Teenagers Must Die” directed by Jeff C. Smith has accomplished being one of the funniest horror flicks out there right now.
He goes back to basics with this 80’s oriented film that has you glued to the screen with it’s goofiness and classic horror situations like the lights all go out and then the famous stupid question that is always asked comes, “Is someone in here?”
You know with the whole “C’mon guys quit playing around” kinda thing.

Lethal Force (Unearthed Films Special Edition)
In this town, two wrongs don’t make you right…they make you even!
Imagine if you will for a second, John Woo directing a second rate Jet Li in a kitsch parody cum homage to 1970’s Grindhouse Kung-Fu, Blaxploitation and Hong Kong Action flicks in a camp style almost akin to 1960’s Batman or The Green Hornet. Got a good mental picture? Then you’ve pretty much just had the same vision as director Alvin D. Ecarma and his no-budget, no brainer, no holds barred cheese-fest, Lethal Force.
After his wife is brutally slain and his son kidnapped by wheelchair bound (dis)organized crime boss Mal Locke (Andrew Hewitt), family man and gangster, Jack (Frank Prather), is left no option but to betray his best friend, Savitch (Cash Flagg Jnr), a lethal hitman who‘s “Mad, bad and dangerous to know”, in the hope of his son’s safe return.
Within the first 5 minutes of the film it manages to spoof 1970’s tough guy cop movies, cheesey 1980’s action flicks, old school martial arts movies and Tarantino’s Pulp Fiction, as the character of Savitch is first introduced, rapidly disposing of two CIA agents to reach his target of a woman they’re guarding as part of the Witness Protection Programme.

Review: Eat Your Heart Out
Eat Your Heart Out Review by Angry Princess

One day I was on Myspace browsing thru the film section and came across this movie "Eat Your Heart Out." I was immediately taken with the films headline "Safe sex will never be the same." I thought to myself "How could this not be interesting?" Sex and horror seem to really be the in thing right now from bringing back Exploitation flicks to horror porn. Does this give you an idea of how fucked up today’s world really is?
Jeffry Shapiro is a car insurance salesman whose love life is just about non existent so he becomes depressed and just wants one reason to get up in the morning, someone to make his life complete. Poor thing goes thru his little black book and was barely recognized by any of the women in there. So he decides to do what any normal horny male will do in a bind, he’ll call an escort service and pay for it.

Mangled Angels Review

Well I had the chance to check out the new site, Mangled Angels.com. We posted the press release from the webmaster just a bit ago, here, and he has given us access to the site for a review.
And I must say, this site kicks ass! The whole premise for the site is a blog from a serial killer filled with his demented mind ramblings along with graphic pictures of what he does for a living. The whole idea of this is almost a reversal of what most people are used to. For me anyway, a good movie starts out with a good story and good characters. Then we get to see the whole thing play out on the big screen. Of course once it’s over, then it’s over. Sometimes you are left with wanting to see more, or see what and why the characters are doing. For this site, it takes that same idea and just reverses it. It’s like there is this great movie and they turned it into a script. Something as simple as this may seem all good, but you have to see the site for yourself to really get it.

Review: Cannibal Flesh Riot

If you want a change in the way horror movies are made and want to see something a bit different than your average flick, you should check this movie out. Cannibal Flesh Riot is the Directorial debut from artist Gris Grimly. Gris has been involved in the horror world for a little while now, but this movie might push him into the spotlight a bit more.
Cannibal Flesh Riot is the story of a couple of Ghouls that go out one night to a cemetery for dinner. Yes Ghouls! Not many movies talk about ghouls like this one. So much so that there is a little beginning info on what a ghoul is and the history of them. Anyway, Dumb and Dumber go out for a bit to eat at the cemetery when they seem to strike up a healthily conversation about life in general. It’s kind of funny to see that even though they are ghouls, they still are living among people like its nothing. Funny stories and witty conversation between the two characters throughout the 30 or so minutes of the flick. Yeah it’s a short one, but well worth it. Many movies should take a lesson from horror shorts, just get down to the point.

From Captain to Director
Sid Haig’s upcoming directorial debut film, Wittenberg, has officially been picked up for distribution by none other than Universal Studios. The full story on this deal will be announced at a later date, but for now we can release the news that the film has, among other things, guaranteed theatrical release on a minimum of 1,500 screens nationwide.
Haig and his team are of course very excited by this news, and proud. Haig is beaming, saying, “This is just amazing. To be picked up by a major studio like Universal right out of the gate is, to say the least, inspiring. This is becoming more and more real to me…..and my game face is on!â€
More details on this news as it develops, and many more cast announcements to come! Stay tuned for more on Sid Haig‘s Wittenberg!

The Angel Maker creates Angels out of his victims to communicate with God
Horror fans are increasingly becoming more selective, choosing the more graphic and shocking indie offerings over mainstream studio fare. Seattle-based Kapow/Splat Productions recognized this trend in late 2006 and have created a gory online serialization with a twist – a divinely-inspired serial killer who publishes a daily blog recounting his daily activities, his innermost thoughts, and the most intimate details and photographs of the victims. The website is located at http://www.mangledangels.com
Graphic and shocking is an understatement when it comes to Mangled Angels.

Anti Horror

Alright heres a new one for you, well at least to me.
Fans of the extreme and gory horror should take a liking to this one. “Anti Horror” is the name of the film from director Don Benjamin. This is a movie about making a movie, and the characters find themselves involved in real life horror. Ive seen a few like this before all with good results and Im sure this one will be the same.
The site has the trailer and some good information on the film as well as some interesting facts from the shoot. This one has numerous awards including best special effects, and best horror movie from the Twisted Sinema Underground Festival in Canada. Nicely done.
