300 Directors New Zombie Film
From Variety:
Zack Snyder, director of the remake of "Dawn of the Dead" and the smash hit "300," has been tapped by Warner Bros. to make "Army of the Dead," yet another zombie film. "Army," which is based on a story written by Snyder, may or may not be directed by Snyder, whose next film as a director will be the eagerly awaited adaptation of Alan Moore's "Watchmen," which starts filming by the end of the summer.
Joby Harold, who penned the upcoming film "Awake" for The Weinstein Company, will write the script for "Army." The story takes place in Las Vegas in the close future, where a father tries to save his daughter from the flesh-starved zombies. Las Vegas sounds like the ultimate location for a zombie pic, so this one could be awesome. Cuz as you know, what happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas…which includes getting ripped in two by a pack of the undead.

Halloween Remake a Wrap
It looks like Rob Zombie has finished shooting the remake of Halloween. Editing of the flick begins next week, and I for one am glad.
Its not that I dont want to see this, and really im sure it will be good, Im just tired of hearing all the news about shooting this thing. I love the pics and interviews, trailers and what not, but I have no patience and just want to get to the good stuff.
It doesn't look like there is an official website for this movie yet, but as always, there is Zombie's MySpace page! Check it often for more updates.

Crazy Clip of the Day
Heres your crazy clip of the day. Nothing better than dancing zombies, excited Japanese families in the woods, and… well, thats good for now. This is from HERE, and HERE, and HERE, and just ended up here for some reason. Not sure why, but hey…everyone loves Zombies.
Happiness of the Katakuris (Katakuri-ke no kôfuku), directed by Takashi Miike, is a 2001 remake of The Quiet Family (Choyonghan kajok) a Korean movie. There’s also a Chinese remake called A Mysterious Murder but I’ve never managed to see it, and it’s not pertaining to this discussion.
The story is about a family which runs a guesthouse in the mountains. No customers arrive for the first days. Then people start coming. And dying. So, they decide to bury the corpses in the backyard instead of calling the police. Chaos ensues. Check out the clip below

Morte Sospetta Di Una Minorenne (Suspected Death of a Minor) Sazuma productions R2 Release
Morte Sospetta di una Minorenne aka Suspected Death of a Minor, Too Young to Die
Italy -1975
Directed by Sergio Martino
While maybe not as widely known in wider film circles as say Dario Argento or Mario Bava, for many Italian genre film fans the name of Sergio Martino is pretty much legendary. Known especially for his contributions to Gialli (I Corpi presentano tracce di violenza carnale [Torso], Il Tuo Vizio è una Stanza Chiusa e Solo io ne ho la Chiave [Your Vice is a Closed Room and Only I Have the Key], Tutti i colori del buio [All the Colours of the Dark], Lo Strano vizio della Signora Wardh [The Strange Vice of Mrs Wardh] and La Coda dello scorpione [Case of the Scorpion’s Tail] ) and his entries into the realms of Poliziescho / Crime films ( Milano trema - la polizia vuole giustiziaViolent Professionals] and La Città gioca d'azzardo [Gambling City] ), fans of Martino’s work will be happy to see this lesser known hybrid of the two genres finally see a fantastic quality release from Sazuma Productions. [
Opening in the style of standard Giallo fare, we see an attractive (if somewhat frizzy haired) young girl, Marissa, awaiting a date at a courtyard dancehall. Receiving a note that her expected rendezvous has cancelled and realising that she has been stalked by a mysterious man in sunglasses, Marissa accepts the invitation of a dance from (as we later discover) undercover Detective Paolo Germi (Claudio Cassinelli, an Italian genre film regular, including later appearances in Martino’s La Montagna del dio cannibale [Mountain of the Cannibal God], L’Isola degli uomini pesce [Island of the Fishmen], Assassinio al cimitero etrusco [Scorpion with Two Tails] and Fiume del grande caimano [Big Alligator River], as well as Lucio Fulci’s I Guerrieri dell'anno 2072 [New Gladiators] and Murder Rock). Edging her way towards the edge of the dance floor, the young girl flees in an attempt to lose her pursuer. Arriving back at a darkened, seedy hotel room, Marissa finds that the mystery man has arrived before her, stepping from the shadows to slash her throat and take her life.

REVIEW: The Grand Horror
THE GRAND HORROR
Director- Mat Kister
Review by: TheAngryPrincess
I finally got around to watching my screener of Indie Director Mat Kister's "The Grand Horror." Four friends fight their way thru city streets full of zombies finding safety within the walls of an old movie theatre not knowing that two other surviors snuck in and were in the basement. Upstairs Steve manages to annoy Rhyann to the poiint of her wanting to slap him silly while T.J. and Jeremy search the basement for zombies or anything that can useful to them.

Sheitan (aka Satan) R2 Tartan Video Release
Sheitan aka Satan
2006 - France
Directed by Kim Chapiron
“Lord do not forgive them, for they know what they doâ€
I have to admit, Kim Chaprion’s debut feature, Sheitan, is not an easy film to review. It doesn’t fit squarely into any one genre and is not so easily compared to many other films out there, although this within itself is obviously a good thing. I personally like to think of it as a darkly humorous, Arthouse Horror Comedy!
The film begins on Cristmas Eve with a group of 3 friends out at “The Styxx†nightclub. Drunkenly behaving badly, and with all the social graces of what could be compared to British “chav†culture (that’s Council Housed an Vandals/Violent to the uninitiated), one of the group, Bart (Olivier Bartélémy),stupidly gets himself into a dancefloor altercation with a club bouncer, resulting in him being wine bottled over the head and thrown out into the street.

Edge of Light Media
Los Angeles, CA (PRWEB) March 22, 2007 — The world’s first independent Blu-ray film distribution and manufacturing company, Edge of Light Media (EOL), has been launched by award-winning film producer John Daly and DVD pioneer Erick Hansen to release indie and mini-major films, TV shows and music videos worldwide in the high-definition disc format.
The bold move is considered key to not only Blu-ray, but to overall HD acceptance as the majors now control virtually all the manufacturing and distribution of the emerging Blu-ray disc technology while most films produced in the U.S. and abroad are made outside the studio system. EOL has actively begun seeking Blu-ray arrangements with indie film distributors, mini-majors and TV production companies for their new releases and catalog titles and a manufacturing plant is currently under construction by Hansen in Spokane, Washington.

La Settima Donna (Sazuma R2 Austrian release)
La Settima Donna aka The Last House on the Beach, Verflucht Zum Toten, Terror, Junge Madchen zur Liebe Gezwungen
1978 - Italy
Directed by Franco Prosperi
From it’s initial release in 1972, Wes Craven’s debut movie, Last House on the Left, without a doubt became one of the most notorious and influential exploitation films of it’s time. This influence was particularly felt in Italy, most infamously with Ruggero Deodato’s La Casa Sperduta nel Parco (The House on the Edge of the Park..) and Aldo Lado’s L’Ultimo Treno Della Notte (Night Train Murders..), but also to a lesser extent Mario Bava’s Cani Arrabbiati (Rabid Dogs) and Pasquale Festa Campanile’s Autostop Rosso Sangue (Hitch Hike..).
To this list of Italian “Last House” style movies can be added Franco Prosperi’s La Settima Donna, it’s American re-titling in fact being The Last House on the Beach. As is the case Rabid Dogs and Hitch-Hike, the story is of three criminals (Ray Lovelock,Flavio Andreini and Stefano Cedrati on the run following a bank heist, but in this case the thieves come across an isolated beach side house, owned by a local catholic school and used as the pre-exam retreat for Sister Christina (Florinda Bolkan) and her group of all female teenage students.
