Indie flick called Socket
Looks like Fangoria got some pictures from the new Indie flick called Socket. Check out the plot synopsis and the trailer links below.

Synopsis
The film is about a surgeon who is struck by lightning and winds up recovering in his own hospital. There he meets an intern named Craig, who suffered the same natural accident and has developed an appetite for electrical voltage ,and Bill finds he has the same craving. Craig introduces him to an underground group of people who all share this addiction, and Bill comes up with a method of inserting electric sockets and prongs into the members’ wrists so they can "juice up". But after Bill accidentally discovers that he can mainline electricity from living people, he becomes hooked on absorbing this particular kind of power.
If any of you are homophobic in any sort of way (which I would think you are not this day and age) then you might want to stear clear of the trailer.

DC Independent Film Festival

Washington, DC (PRWEB) February 27, 2007 — The 9th Annual DC Independent Film Festival (DCIFF) opens Thursday, March 1 with a special tribute to Academy Award Winner Executive Producer John Daly ("Terminator", "Platoon", "The Last Emperor"). This year’s showcase themes include Inside Politics/Human Right, Going Green, Black Filmmakers, Cine Latino, Women’s Day, Asian, Life’s Curve Balls, Mediterranean, European, Africa, Jewish, Scary Movies, and Reality Bites/Documentaries, among others. PollyStaffle.com Polished Apple Awards
Las Vegas (PRWEB) February 26, 2007 — While bigger stars and budgets usually mean box office success and Oscars for Hollywood, PollyStaffle.com chose to honor a low budget film that grossed a little over a million dollars as David Slade’s directorial debut "Hard Candy" was named ‘Best Movie’ with the announcement of the 2007 Polished Apple Awards.
Starring Patrick Wilson and Ellen Page, "Hard Candy" deals with the sensitive topics of pedophilia, revenge killing and internet predators. It does so with no clear cut villain or hero.
"The movie was essentially two people in one room," PollyStaffle.com senior editor Chad Freeman said. "It has no CGI special effects, no big explosions, no nudity and very little blood. But what it does offer is a lot to think about and an extremely intense cinematic experience without being completely humorless, as it easily could have been. ‘Hard Candy’ has been the frontrunner for the Pollies since its theatrical run in April, and ultimately nothing could top it."

THE CURSE OF THE CRYING WOMAN (CASANEGRA R1)

In an opening sequence reminiscent of (and indeed homage to) Mario Bava’s La Maschera del Demonio, we see a coach ride into remote mist laden woodland, carrying two elder gentlemen and a young woman passenger (Julissa del Llano - later seen alongside Karloff in La Muerte Viviente and The Fear Chamber). The coach is met in the road by the eerie figure of a hollow eyed, raven haired woman, swathed in black and flanked by three large Great Dane hounds.
As the coach comes to a halt, the woman, Selma (Rita Macedo), orders her accompanying henchman, Juan (Carlos López Moctezuma later seen in La Horripilante Bestia Humana), to kill the coach driver and sets loose the hounds to ravage the passengers, the runaway coach crushing the female passenger under wheel.

REVIEW: Murder Set Pieces (Unrated Version)
Ok, I have finally seen the unrated version of Nick Palumbo’s MURDER SET PIECES and can somewhat understand the outrage that people have felt because of this movie’s brutal and very graphic content. There are two sides to this movie. Either you support it or you try and tear it up with bad press and negative reviews. I honestly have to say that I fall on the supporters’ side and sincerely agree that Hollywood has totally glamorized serial killers and the mass destruction that they cause. Films like NATURAL BORN KILLERS have turned the tables and have made hideous crimes become this twisted freak show to follow and cheer on the killers as they savagely murder each victim. In the marketplace, there are everything from serial killers t-shirts and calendars to buttons and coffee mugs that you can buy, wear proudly and drink from to display your favorite serial killer and their despicable acts. But is this ok?
The movie MURDER SET PIECES puts the fear back in you and reminds you that these very real human victims are dying - and it’s painful, it’s final, and they don’t get up and walk away after the scene is over. They’re fuckin’ really dead. The film shows the viewer the work of a Vegas serial killer. You see the rage, you see rape, you see total mutilation and then you see another almost never touched taboo: kids. Kids get hurt too, just like in real life. I am sorry, but this no-holds-barred movie reminds us of things that are usually out of sight and out of mind. It’s about time someone put the HORROR back in movies to give people a nice slap back to reality that this shit really happens. People need to keep their guards up and not be so trusting and naive of others. Not all killers foam at the mouth and most do not visibly stand out like a sore thumb in a crowd.

Amatuer Porn Star Killer

The fascination with the subject matter of "pornographic" death on film and the concept of "snuff" movies is something that since it's coined phrase in the 1970's has seeped beyond the realms of horror cinema and anti-porn feminist fairytales, to become the stuff of everyday urban legend.
From Michael Powell's 1960 classic, Peeping Tom, or the numerous Mondo movies of the 1960's, through American Grindhouse pics such as Snuff or Last House on a Dead End Street, to the infamous Italian exploitation movies Cannibal Holocaust and Emanuelle in America. Building underground notoriety with Japan's Guinea Pig: Devil's Experiment and Flower of Flesh & Blood, to more widely seen films such as Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer and mainstream efforts such as Paul Schrader's Hardcore and Joel Schumacher's 8mm, through European films like Man Bite's Dog, Tesis and Britain's The Last Horror Movie, followed by more recent "extreme" indie films such as Fred Vogel's August Underground and Mordum, or Japan's Psycho: The Snuff Reels and Muzan-e, "Snuff" is a topic that has often reared its ugly head and refuses to go away.
The latest entry into this cinematic realm is Director / Writer / Producer / Actor, Shane Ryan's Amateur Porn Star Killer. A film that although having a provocative and by the throat exploitation title, isn't truly a work of out and out exploitation cinema, nor it doesn't fall comfortably into the bracket of horror, although undoubtedly it will be horror & exploitation film fans that will check it out first.
