J-Horror is Better
There is about 58 reasons why Japanese and Asian Horror is better than most American horror movies coming out now. Even some of the older series that are considered classics like TCM and Nightmare on Elm Street seem to have been beaten, at least in my mind, by some of the gore and suspense coming out of the Far Eastern World of Cinema.
J-Horror has been putting gore and creepy ghosts and skinny scary children on the film making map for a while now. With some of the J-Horror staple movies like Ringu and Ju-On, Asian Horror has a stronghold on the creepy suspenseful edge of movies.
But you can not forget about the gore coming from them either. A lot of movies that have been and still are being made from the Japanese rival most of the American slashers in terms of blood and gore on the big screen.
Take for example a couple of flicks that Ive seen over this past weekend….

House of Black Wings
Sword & Cloak Productions is proud to announce the completion of Principle Photography on their second Feature Film, HOUSE OF BLACK WINGS, on December 13, 2006.
House of Black Wings is a character-driven Lovecraftian ghost story. Inspired by the social drama of Polanski's "The Tenant" and Larry Fessenden's "Habit", the surreal images of Argento's "Suspiria" and Fulci's "The Beyond", and the pervasive menace of Asian ghost stories.
It is a nightmare of urban paranoia, loss of identity, and the blurred line between creativity and madness.

New Cannibal Review
We have a new review of the ultra gore fest known as Cannibal.
Cannibal is the new release from Unearthed Films that has a lot of people talking these days.
Here is a snippit from the review:
I'm not entirely sure where to start with this movie, but I guess we should start with the fact this movie is based on the true story of convicted cannibal Armin Meiwes. I won't go too far with the story, click his name to see a lot more useful info on Wikipedia. Sometime around 2003 you may have heard about the cannibal who posted an ad online that he was looking for someone to eat & another man willingly responded? If you have, then you basically know exactly what this movie is about. If you haven't heard the story click here to get caught up……

Kaw
Sheldon Wilson follows up his offbeat and disturbing "Shallow Ground" with "KAW", a tale of ravens that suddenly begin attacking the residents of a small farming community.
"KAW is the story of a bustling community that comes under attack by a conspiracy of ravens. Clyde (Stephen McHattie) was the first to notice the aggressive behavior of the birds as they attacked his farm. But since Clyde long ago lost his good standing in the town, his rantings and complaints are summarily ignored..until things take a drastic turn for the worst.
As it will soon be discovered, local farmer Oskar (John Ralston) has been hiding some unnatural developments from the townsfolk…and this leads to the deadly assault the town now must struggle to survive.
When the local girls soccer team comes under siege by the killer ravens, everyone desperately fights their way towards the town diner. Wayne and Doc (Rod Taylor, THE BIRDS) board up the windows and doors, but to little avail. The ravens have a taste for blood and furiously attack the makeshift stronghold trying to reach the human flesh inside."
Obviously inspired by Hitchcock's classic "The Birds" the cast even includes one of it's stars Rod Taylor. and Sheriff Wayne is played by "The Boondock Saints" Sean Patrick Flanery.
The official website is at http://www.kaw-movie.com/ and you can check out the trailer on the film's MySpace page at http://www.myspace.com/kawthemovie
