Well its Halloween time and that means its Saw III time once again. Lionsgate has released the 3rd installment of its widely popular slash and gash em Saw series. This time Mr Jigsaw has a new pupil and apparently he is teaching her well. But that all depends on what and who you talk to. All kinds of reviews are in now since the movie opened this weekend, I personally havent seen the film yet and not sure if I will til the DVD release. Thats a long story though, click HERE to read.

Apparently Saw made over 30 million this weekend and "Oh yes, there will be more money" to be made Im sure of it. Check out just some of the many reviews from around the net below! If anyone reading this has seen the money, leave a comment and tell us what you thought of the flick!!!

Freddy Kruger of Drumming

Saturday October 28th 2006, 12:48 pm by DrGore

Click for larger ImageHere is something we just found. Jason Farmer, the world’s fastest drummer. He is the Freddy Kruger of Drumming!!

This is a no budget horror flick that some would look right over and think nothing of it. But it looks like it might be worth a watch, OR A LAUGH, if you’re bored sometime. The trailer seems to remind me a little of the Something Weird Videos I love so much. Odd commentary, long titles, and strange bits and pieces of the movie thrown in together in some fashion to give it some kind of purpose for the no purpose movie its featuring. Obviously some kind of student project but there does seem to be some kind of gore and dismemberment in here so check out the trailer below.

Remakes, Remakes, Remakes….will it ever end?

Wednesday October 25th 2006, 1:32 am by DrGore

Looks like Day of the Dead has a new trailer out there and from the looks of it and reading others posts about it, it doewsnt seem to really impress people much. Check out what you think about it here:

Day of the Dead Trailer

With all of the reaw talent out there in the horror world, you would think that people and more specifically the big studios would pick up on the fact that everything has been done and its now time for more original ideas. But apparently they have'nt figured that out yet, and from the looks of it they never really will. With all of the money that is to be made re-hasing old ideas and taking good movies and making them bad, I dont think that the remake trend in horror will ever end.

So if you are like me and dont particularly like the remakes, (with the exception of "Dawn of the Dead"; I think a few of you can agree), consider this post a warning list. Here is some of the movies that are on the chopping block for remakes. Some of them are old and some of them are new….click on the more tag for the list

Masters of Horror - Season 2

Wednesday October 25th 2006, 1:15 am by DrGore

It looks like the second season of Masters of Horror is getting closer to air. This year there is once again 13 episodes that are all directed by some of the best and most well known horror directors in the business. As far as I can see there is no "banned" episode this time, but I’m sure that most of the episodes will push the limits yet again this time. Showtime's Masters of Horror has won several awards this year in numerous ceremonies for their groundbreaking idea of getting together horror greats and letting them have full creative control with their projects. Although most of the movies in the first season played it relatively safe, there were a few of them that will be hard to forget.

Check out HS.com's review of one of the best episodes "Incident on and off a Mountain Road"

Some of the directors that are at it again included: Mick Garris, Stuart Gordon, Tobe Hooper, and a personal favorite Dario Argento. For a list of all the directors, the movie line up for this year, and PODCAST Interviews with some of the directors, check out some of the links below.

New Movie Reviews

Saturday October 21st 2006, 9:45 pm by DrGore

We have 2 new reviews for you freaks now!

First up is The Horror Convention Massacre. An homage to the old slasher films of the 70' and 80's. Filmed at the Cinema Wasteland Convention and premiered there as well, and. I was fortunate enough to check this out at the convention.

Next we have another premier at Cinema Wasteland; this time is The Redsin Tower. Another gore fest from the Toe Tag team that brought you the classic ultra-violent August Underground films. This time it’s a "real" movie and it premiered to a packed house.

Check them both out here:

Chicago Premire of CALVAIRE

Wednesday October 18th 2006, 10:31 pm by DrGore

ONE WEEK ONLY! :  FRIDAY, OCT. 27 – THURSDAY, NOV. 12

CalvaireThe Facets Cinematheque in Chicago will be showing "Calvaire (The Ordeal)" for one week only. The Facets Theater in Chicago specializes in showcasing independent, foreign and art house films. Dont miss this opprotunity to check out this brutal film that blends experimentalism and blood drenched horror. Check out the synopsis and links below:

Calvaire is a blunt shocker that has sparked comparisons to the holy triptych of “survival” horror films: The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Straw Dogs, and Deliverance. Marc Stevens (Laurent Lucas) is a small-time singer on his way to a Christmas engagement when his van breaks down in the forest. He is forced to find a run-down inn where he can stay the night. Mr. Bartel, the innkeeper, promises to call a mechanic, but in his eyes, the lost crooner is a surrogate for his wife, who left him years earlier, and Marc becomes his helpless captive. Calvaire fits into a curious place between art-house experimentalism and blood-drenched horror, with an undercurrent of grim comedy. Be warned: the film does feature some brutal imagery.

Directed by Fabrice du Welz, Belgium/France/Luxembourg, 2004, 90 mins.
In French with English subtitles.

Fri.-Sun., Oct. 27-29 at 7 & 9 pm
Sat.-Sun., Nov. 4-5 at 3, 5,7&9 pm
Sat.-Sun., Nov. 11-12 at 3, 5, 7 & 9 pm

Tickets are $9.00, $5.00 for members

Xtreme Revolution - Insanity

Wednesday October 18th 2006, 4:45 am by DrGore

Xtreme Revolutions has a new short horror film online now. this one is called INSANITY. Around 8 minutes long this short blends suspense, horror, gore, and a good looking girl into a dead end trip through a run down house.

A couple stops to "make out" in this house or (something of that nature), and all hell breaks loose. The girl is some kind of vampire that ends up torturing the guy she is with and really lets him have it in the end.

Thats about all i can say for this one, but it doesnt let you down one bit. Good camera work and lighting effects really lead you up to some kind of ending that is totally unexpected. After all this one is from "Xtreme Revolution" so they have to live up to their name. And they do.

Check out the links below for this new short and others by them as well.

November 7th DVD premiere of Freak Out

Wednesday October 18th 2006, 4:41 am by DrGore

Anchor Bay Entertainment, an IDT Entertainment company, gives cult film fans yet another treat with the November 7 th DVD premiere of Freak Out , director Christian James's first excursion into stomach-clutching, bloodcurdling and drop-dead hilarious horror.

Winner of numerous accolades including the “Commendation Award” for Feature Films at Manchester's Festival of Fantastic Films, “Best Genre Cross-Over” Award at the Rhode Island International Horror Film Festival, and an official selection at the Montreal Fantasia Festival, Freak Out is set up to please both “serious” and “spoof” horror fans alike. SRP for the 2-disc Special Edition DVD is $19.98 and pre-book is September 27 th 2006 .

Turning the great horror movie clichés on their severed ears, Freak Out opens like all great slasher films — with a flashback of an incidental character. Young Cliff is being dropped off at school by his alcoholic mother, only to be tormented by his teacher and peers. Thirteen years later, Cliff escapes from a mental institution to find that the school that he vowed revenge on is no longer standing. Disappointed and with nowhere to go, Cliff wanders onto the doorstep of horror film addicts Merv and his best friend Onkey. With visions of slashers and maniacs and box-office grosses (oh my!) dancing in their heads, wannabe schlock kings Merv and Onkey fit Cliff with a potato sack on his head and cover his face with a hockey mask, transforming him into the ultimate homicidal filmaniac. Things soon take a turn for the worst after the killer “finds his groove,” dispatching shoppers and employees alike in a supermarket. With their Frankenstein officially out of control – killing everyone in sight — Marv and Onkey start to have second thoughts. Can they stop their own creation or are they – and the town — doomed?

Check out an exclusive clip from "Freak Out!
