Well it looks like it was Wes Craven’s birthday the other day and we forgot about it!, Sorry Wes!

Horror maven Wes Craven is 67 years old today. He first burst onto the scene with his directorial debut, The Last House on the Left (1972). He went on to create the character of Freddy Krueger, launched the successful Scream horror-comedy trilogy, and is the recipient of a Lifetime Achievement Award from his peers at the Academy of Science Fiction, Fantasy & Horror Films.

Far from slowing down, the grand master of the genre enjoyed a hit last year with Red Eye, directed a segment for the ensemble anthology film Paris, je t’aime, and has a writing credit on the upcoming Japanese remake, Pulse.

According to some recent ink in the Hollywood Reporter, “Intermedia has optioned Adam Alleca’s sci-fi action-thriller spec The Drowning Man. Based on Hideshi Hino’s manga Living Corpse, the story centers on a man who wakes up without a pulse and soon discovers that he is at the center of a macabre government experiment. Alleca, whose thriller Home is in development at Wes Craven’s Production Company, is repped by WMA.”

In the future, look for the following projects produced or directed by Craven: The Breed, Bug, The Waiting, Home, and The Hills Have Eyes II. [Photo of Wes Craven © Enzo Giobbé / StarLens.com]
